Ryian & Jake met the summer of 2015, Ryian had just graduated from Michigan State University and Jake was home for the summer after a year at Aquinas. Jake's cousin and Ryian's close friend, Travis, introduced the two one night in Rick's Basement. It wouldn't do it justice to say the rest was history... or so you thought.

The two have a very unique history, one where they separated for a year and pursued their own paths as many couples have done. They remained friends but interestingly enough, Travis was still a connecting dot between them. One weekend in 2018, Ryian was going to visit Travis in Royal Oak for St. Practice Crawl weekend (a lame excuse to do St. Patty's day things, just the weekend before) and Travis asked if Ryian could bring Jake up with her. Jake initially told Travis he did not want to go, but when Travis told Jake that Ryian was going, he immediately changed his mind. Long story short, Jake and Ryian knew that there was no other person for them but each other. The two have been on many adventures since...

On October 7, 2022, Jake wanted to take Ryian to the pier in St. Joseph, Michigan, their favorite place to go together, to watch a sunset and then have a beautiful dinner overlooking Lake Michigan afterwards. It was miserable, rainy, cold and Ryian doesn't do well with cold, rainy weather and especially not when she's hungry. Jake asked if she wanted to turn around, however she was suspicious about what was happening and they were already halfway there, "might as well keep going," she said. Sure enough, it was miserable until it wasn't. On the pier, Jake proposed to Ryian (had to dodge multiple puddles before taking the knee) and it was no longer a miserable, cold, rainy day. FINALLY, the rest was history.
