Rylan and I don’t know exactly when we met since our memories don’t go back that far. We both grew up in Littlefork. We played T-ball and sang in church concerts together. We always knew each other but we weren’t really friends. I had a crush on him since 6th grade but it wasn’t until my freshman year when I told him, “I’m sure you can tell by now that I have a crush on you.” We went on a few dates and later, he asked me to be his girlfriend after a New Year's Eve party.
During our high school years, we enjoyed attending each other’s sports games, spending time at my parents’ cabin, hanging out with friends, camping with his family, and lots of other outdoor activities.
We both went to college at MSUM, where we met more great friends and enjoyed the college experience. We both graduated in May 2019. After that, we moved into an apartment in Hawley together. Rylan got a job teaching 6th grade in Waubun, and I started grad school at MSUM. We learned that we were capable of living together so that was a good sign!
After hiding the engagement ring for a full school year and bringing it back and forth between our apartment and his parents’ house (and a snowmobile trip to Wyoming), Rylan proposed in May 2020 while we were walking around Buffalo River State Park. I was excited to start planning the wedding. He wasn’t ready to listen to me talk about it!
We are so excited to celebrate our wedding day with you all!
