Shaash Saar- Shaash Saar is a special Somali tradition where guests encircle the bride, each placing a scarf (shaash) on her head. This act symbolizes respect for her new married status and wishes her luck for the future. (The first woman to place a scarf is a woman who has never been divorced, followed by other married women.) It's a beautiful way to honor the bride and her new journey.
We invite all guests to join us in celebrating the bride's Somali heritage by participating in our traditional customs. Please feel free to join in the Shaash Saar ceremony. Your participation will make our day even more special. Thank you for being a part of our special day!
