Their story begins in Normal Illinois at Illinois State University. Sabrina and Chris were both studying education and hoping to pursue teaching careers (4 years later, they both successfully did). Although at that point, neither had any clue who the other was. It wasn’t until Sabrina started struggling in one of her math classes and went out to find a tutor. Lucky enough, as she walked in for her first session you can only guess who was sitting across the table…Mr. Chris Shintaku. Sabrina continued going back to tutor sessions with Chris, where Chris’ boss would constantly come to check on them because they were always laughing hysterically. The tutor sessions slowly started becoming less and less about math as time went on. They started dating in 2019 after Chris graduated from ISU and were long distance for almost 2 more years until Sabrina graduated. They later moved into their first apartment together in Schaumburg, Illinois, and now live happily in their home located in Roselle, Illinois with their beloved dog, Hazel. Thanks to that little study room in the basement of the Visor Center, Sabrina and Chris are looking forward to the many years of love that follow.
