Alex and I's story began at Duvic’s in Baton Rouge where we met through mutual friends. Alex remembers thinking, “Who is this beautiful girl?” and feeling instantly drawn to her. I remember how kind and gentleman-like he was right away — so easy to talk to and laugh with. We ended up spending the rest of the night together and made plans to see each other again the very next day.

Our first “dates” weren’t fancy — we spent hours hanging out at each other’s houses, watching movies, sharing life stories, making silly videos, and laughing until we couldn’t breathe. From the very beginning, Alex’s kindness stood out to me: he’d bring me food and coffee, plug in my phone when the battery was low, and always make sure my water bottle was full. Almost three years later, nothing has changed — I still wake up to fresh coffee and a full water bottle, and I still find myself smiling, thinking, “This is too good to be true.”

As our relationship grew, so did our adventures. We took trips to Disney together, which quickly became one of Alex’s favorite places too — and we can’t wait to travel the world together as husband and wife. We love doing active things outside, playing pickleball, riding bikes, and spending time with each others family and friends who have become our own big circle of love and support.

Our proposal was just as special and meaningful as everything else. On Christmas Eve Alex asked me to marry him in the condo I live in, the very same condo my mom lived in when she was younger, in the exact spot where my dad popped the question years ago. True to form, I was running late and doing my makeup in the car. Alex slipped upstairs to "use the bathroom” before we left and secretly set up rose petals and candles. He somehow convinced me to climb back up three flights of stairs (with half of my makeup on) and there he was, waiting for me. It couldn’t have been more us!

Through everything, we’ve always been each other’s best friend and better half. We’ve faced hard times that only brought us closer and made us stronger. What used to scare me about growing older now makes me excited — because I get to grow old with him.

We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all the people who love us most!
