HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THIS TRIP?

Passports:

Make sure you have a valid passport and it’s not set to expire before or during your planned time in Colombia. If you need to renew your passport you need to do so ASAP. Here is the government site that will direct you on how best to renew your passport.

General Safety:

Many of you have been to Colombia before, but for those who have not, below are a few safety tips for Colombia. Medellín is a pretty nice city so don't be too worried safety wise. However, please remember you are in a different country and should be aware of your surroundings!

Men, We recommend you keep phones and wallets in your front pockets, not in back pockets.

Women, Jewelry - try to avoid wearing flashy jewelry (even engagement rings) while walking around town. Jewelry at nice restaurants or during our wedding event is ok, just avoid wearing while you are walking around outside (day or night). This is just a precaution- the city is very safe.

Cash/Credit Cards:

Definitely exchange some cash to the Colombian Peso for the trip. Majority of restaurants and stores will accept credit cards but smaller stores will typically only accept cash. There are several credit cards that don't have international fees, check which you have beforehand so you're not surprised by any additional charges!

Health:

We highly recommend taking probiotics/vitamins daily the month before to strengthen your stomach. Keep in mind, the cuisine and ingredients are different than in the US so it will take some time to adjust. We suggest to avoid street food and stick to cooked food at least for the first day or two while your stomach adjusts. Also, as is the case with many countries, avoid drinking the tap water!

Typically in July the high is 83 degrees fahrenheit and the low is 63. Hotter during the day and cooler at night. However, this city is very unpredictable with weather- it varies day by day.

To allow all guests to relax and enjoy themselves, we have chosen to make our wedding weekend an adults-only affair. The event is located in a cliff and for safety reasons we believe this to be best to avoid any worry and accidents. Also this way you can have fun and won't have to worry about a set bedtime!

La ceremonial estará tomando lugar al pie de un barranco donde seria peligroso para niños y por razones de seguridad creemos que es lo mejor para evitar preocupaciones y accidentes. También de esta manera podrás disfrutar y no tendrás que preocuparte.
