We technically met years ago at Sabrina’s childhood dance studio. She danced with Thomas’s sister… and may or may not have had a long-standing crush on him (since 2018, but who’s counting?). Unfortunately, Thomas was busy dating internationally and completely unaware that his future wife was saying hi at every recital.
Every year, he showed up to help his mom carry the heavy gymnastics mats like the good son he is. Sabrina always noticed him. He… did not notice her.
Until August 1, 2020 — the outdoor COVID recital.
We talked. Sparks flew. (Thomas was freshly single and slightly hungover, but we don’t hold that against him.) In true rom-com fashion, Sabrina’s friend asked his mom if he was single — loudly clarifying it was “FOR SABRINA.” Karen told her to follow him on Instagram… and after taking a casual 21 days, he finally messaged her on August 22nd. Best half-birthday gift ever.
Our first date was August 31st. He met her entire family days later over penne vodka (where Sabrina very elegantly licked her plate clean — that was his “it” moment). He didn’t officially ask her to be his girlfriend until October 17, 2020, while slow dancing at his best friend’s wedding. His line: “Do you want to be my girl?” Hers: “Are you sure?” Classic.
Three months later, we “temporarily” moved in together after everyone caught COVID — and Thomas just never left. Sabrina’s dad did ask when he was moving out. No one has an answer to that.
On August 10, 2023, in Montauro, Calabria — in the piazza behind the church where Sabrina’s grandparents were married — Thomas proposed overlooking the sea. When he asked her to marry him, her response was, “Right now?!” (Still questioning life. Still saying yes.)
By the time we say “I do” on October 17, 2026, we’ll have been together six years — three dating, three engaged — and laughing since day one.
And we can’t wait to officially start this next chapter as husband and wife… alongside our first baby, Coco Bear 🐺🤍
