The closest airport to Vella is Zurich Airport

TRAIN or CAR HIRE

From the Zurich Airport you can take public transport all the way to Vella, or hire a car at the airport for your visit. Car hire can be quite pricey and when you are in Vella you can get around easily on foot or on the local 'Post Bus’.

Total travel time on public transport is 2hrs 38mins and via car it takes 2hrs 7mins.

Swiss trains are excellent quality, punctual and very practical. The Post Bus stops only a few meters from Hotel Pellas in Vella. The "SBB Mobile" app shows timetables, platforms and prices (in English) all the way to Vella. You can book tickets via the app.

The first train goes from the Airport to Zurich HB (10mins). From there the next train goes to Chur (1hr 14mins) and the third connection takes you to Ilanz (34mins).

NOTE: The train ride is very scenic, especially the last 34 minutes which takes you through the Rhine Gorge.

In Ilanz Station you jump directly on the 'Post Bus’ (441 to Vrin) which takes you up to Vella: the stop is called Vella Sumsiaras (18mins).

ACCOMODATION

We have reserved all 22 rooms at Hotel Pellas for the wedding weekend from Thursday the 13th June to Sunday the 16th June. Rooms will cost CHF 95 per person per night with breakfast included.

There is just one other hotel (Gravas) in Vella or some private accommodation in the area. Let us know if you would prefer these options and we can try to assist.
