The day John and Sadie start high school cross country. Let’s say Sadie took sports a little more seriously than John. She was not the biggest fan of his shenanigans. Which, is probably why she never gave him a second look.

After a tough day for Sadie, she wanted to go to the bar in Mankato. John thought Sadie was no match for him and assumed she wouldn’t remember him after high school. After a few drinks and liquid courage she jumped into his arms to say hi. Following this night John and Sadie started hanging out as friends, which eventually lead to a relationship.

During Covid, we became close and spent so much time alone together. Sadie convinced John New Prague was better than Mankato. We bought a town house and a boat. This was the first time venturing out as a couple. The lake days didn’t last long as John has terrible luck and something is always breaking down. Luckily, that didn’t scare Sadie away.

John meets Sadie’s family in person and we celebrate John’s birthday.

John surprised Sadie for her birthday with a party bus and bar hopping with a group of friends. He’s a true romantic.

John is always down for a good party and country music.

Some time in July 2021, Sadie was in search of a new adventure and job. She found one at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. John was less than thrilled to move half way across the country in short notice. We settled into our apartment in September 2021 and October was our first outing in the new city.

John, Sadie and John’s friend, JP decided to take a spontaneous weekend road trip to San Diego while JP was visiting us in Phoenix. John is very spur of the moment and enjoys impulse decisions. However, Sadie like to plan and have a plan months in advance. This was not good for her anxiety, but it was so fun to catch the sand dollars that were all over the beach. Finding a sand dollar is supposed to be good luck. Hopefully, the 10 sand dollars we found will give us many years of wedded bliss.

While driving back to Phoenix, Sadie made John take a detour to go to Joshua Tree National Park. This started the obsession of wanting to visit all the National Parks together.

After 9 short months in Phoenix, Sadie was ready to move back to MN. We drove up to Petrified National Park for our last full weekend together in Phoenix before Sadie moved back to MN.

When we started our journey back to MN, Sadie needed to make it back to Arches National Park to hike out to the Delicate Arch. John was less than thrilled to hike on less than 2 hours of sleep, but he did it without complaining. In the few short days driving back we also made it to Canyonlands, Rocky Mountain, Wind Cave, Badlands, Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore.

After being apart for the summer, John finally moved back and we went on our annual fishing trip up north to Balsam with Sadie’s family.

After realizing we can survive roadtrips without killing each other we took a roadtrip down to New Orleans. John said his plan was to propose on the trip. However, he didn’t get the ring in time.

Wedding planning is in full swing and we cannot wait to see y’all in June to celebrate!
