Our love story began when we connected online via a dating app. Our first date was dinner at Sal’s Pizza and Pasta in Old Saybrook on September 18th,2021; Brian picked this restaurant because it was halfway between where we lived.

On our second date, we decided to go hiking at Devil’s Hopyard State Park in East Haddam, and we both thought that we had stood each other up; this Wedding Almost did not happen! I had not been to this State Park Before, so I used my GPS to take me to the park's main parking lot, and when I arrived, I could not find Brian. I tried to call him, but I had no signal, so I asked a couple if I could use their phone to call him, and they agreed if I would have the call on speaker, so I called, and Brian did not answer. I got in my car and started driving until I could find a signal on my phone; 7 minutes later, I called him from my phone, and he answered and says his there at the bridge by the parking lot.

In my head, I am thinking he is lying because I was there, and I did not see him, and this is now like 30/40 minutes after the time we had agreed to meet. I decided to head back to the park and try to find him, but I lost the signal on my phone again. I am now walking around looking for him, but there is still no sign of him. Then an elderly couple comes up to me and asks if I'm looking for someone, probably because I looked so distressed at this point, so I explain to them that I am looking for Brian, and he says he is at the bridge, but I don’t see him; the lady then tells me to check a little ahead up a hill with another parking lot and a bridge, so I start walking up this trail. As I walked, I kept looking ahead to see if I could spot him; a few minutes later, I saw him standing on the bridge, waiting for me with a smile.

Fast-forward: He says he did not answer the call because he thought it was a scam call, and at that time, he also felt that I had stood him up. If not for the lady’s help, we would have driven home and never given each other a second thought, lol.
