Our Story

Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Jordan and Sakiya crossed paths in May 2022 at Northside Church. Sakiya had recently returned from working at a Bible Camp in California, while Jordan had completed school the previous year and faithfully participated in the Young Adults group at the church. Jordan first noticed Sakiya while both were serving at church – him in the sound booth and her at the welcome center.

Over the next six months, they gradually got to know each other through life group meetings and library meetups. After significant and heartfelt prayers from both sides, Jordan mustered the courage to ask Sakiya out on a date in January 2023.

The rest, as they say, is history.

On January 14, 2024, marking their one-year anniversary, Jordan knelt down and proposed to Sakiya. Obviously, she said yes, as you wouldn't be reading this otherwise. They are thrilled to be in the midst of planning a summer wedding in New York.

And the best part? You're invited! Thank you for taking the time to delve into our story. We sincerely hope to see you there as we embark on the next chapter of our journey, following what we both believe the Lord has guided us to do – making vows before Him and all of you, to serve Him as one united entity until He calls us home.

A Few Fun Facts

Our most interesting date:

We both like museums and went to Rochester Museum & Science Center. We loved spending the day together adamantly greeking out over all the cool exhibits. After we went to try a new Chinese restaurant where they mixed up our food. I got Jordan's mild szechuan dish and he got my triple spicy dried stir fry dish. Let's just say it was a funny experience. At least for one of us.

What is your favorite activity together?

Board games! We play them a lot and get very competitive.

(Jordan actually proposed using our favorite board game and after we wrote the famous words permanently on the cards. Check them out)

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Japan! Weddings are expensive so we will not be going on one right away but in the near future we are going to spend 2 weeks in the beautiful Country of Japan exploring.

What is the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Disney we went to Hollywood Studios by ourselves back in September. It was so fun! The next day Sakiya's mom and sister came along to Animal Kingdom then we all went to Medieval Times for dinner. The whole trip was a blast!
