Our Wedding

Mark and Sally went on their first date May 4th, 2021. While many first dates leave you wanting, as they left, they couldn't help but sense a feeling of curious potential about what that night held and what future nights could hold. Their sense of adventure and love to be outdoors was shared from the beginning as they spent their second date canoeing with a surprise picnic. Over the next year, they spent countless nights face timing, traveling between Greensboro and Efland (45min drive), mountain biking, and exploring different places; they learned that they could have fun together. There was a sense of great respect and honor. They had careers, families in different parts of the state, but there was also intentionality towards developing the relationship; learning to understand each other and learning how to love one another. It was obvious that this could last, but there were some struggles. They had to learn to bring different families together, they had to learn to work through their past challenges in a way that wouldn't hinder their connection, and they had to learn to let certain things go. It wasn't always easy, but it was always worth it. Mark proposed April 8th, the day before easter. While not the same magnitude, it was reminiscent of what Jesus did for us. New life was starting to take shape, through commitment. Through an act of sacrificing their own single life, they will come together with life giving commitment. Mark and Sally are looking forward to blending families and starting their life together this July, with a wedding reception in October!
