Sam and Sophie initially crossed paths in their very first college class at Calvin University, an introductory psychology course. Sophie was enrolled due to her initial interest in nursing, while Sam was enrolled by chance to fulfill a core requirement. By an even larger coincidence, Sam and Sophie ended up sitting next to each other throughout the semester!

While their initial meeting didn’t lead to anything beyond becoming casual acquaintances, things changed a year later. Through their mutual best friends, Matt and Allie, they were reintroduced and quickly hit it off. The real spark was ignited during a friendly spikeball tournament, where Sam and Sophie were paired as teammates, which may not have been by chance! From that day forward, they never stopped spending time together.

Over the past two and a half years, Sam has spent countless hours showing Sophie around Grand Rapids, while Sophie has brought new meaning to every spot they’ve visited together. They love exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, going on long walks, and competing in every two-player board or card game they can find (recommendations are always welcome!). Above all, Sam and Sophie just love experiencing everything life has to offer together.

Sam and Sophie are so excited to begin this new phase of life and feel honored to be able to do it with all of their favorite people. The countdown to July 5th begins!
