Our Wedding

Sam is usually the one who loves to share our story—he always does such a great job at it—but I thought I’d give it a try this time! Sam and I grew up in the same town, attending the same schools from pre-K all the way through high school. We were always part of the same circles—friends of friends, but never particularly close. I remember Sam from those days, but we rarely hung out, except for that one summer when we worked as lifeguards at the same pool and, of course, the moment when we were fifteen at a party… and shared a kiss that neither of us thought would mean much at the time. Then, as it often happens in high school, life moved on, and we went our separate ways. It wasn’t until after college that we reconnected. Sam had moved back to Annapolis from Towson and started working with YoungLife, a nonprofit organization that reaches high school students and shares the love of Jesus with them. Around the same time, I also joined the YoungLife team. In the summer of 2023, we served at a camp together, and that’s when we started seeing each other in a new light. For Sam, it was almost immediate. He saw something in me—not just the girl from high school, but someone with a strong faith and a clear vision for the future. Meanwhile, I saw Sam in a completely new way. He had grown into a tall, handsome, and kind man. In the months that followed, we stayed friends, spending time together in group settings and getting to know each other better. There was an ease about our connection, though at the time, I still thought of us as just friends. Sam, however, immediately knew he had feeling for me but knew he needed to wait on God’s timing before asking me out. He wanted to be sure. By December 2023, Sam finally felt a sense of peace about moving forward. He asked me on a date! It was perfect timing because, that same week, I had realized my feelings for him went far beyond friendship. We started dating that December, and over the next six months, we truly got to know one another on a deeper level. We learned more about each other’s hopes, dreams, and even challenges. There was a lot of healing during that season. Both of us had past hurts that God had worked through in our lives, and our relationship became a safe place where we could continue healing together—growing both individually and as a couple. By the time we reached the six-month mark, we knew we were on the same page about the future. We envisioned a life built on trust in God’s timing, selflessness, and a shared desire to serve and grow together. Sam had become my best friend. There’s a quote by one of my favorite authors, Tim Keller, that perfectly captures why we knew marriage was the next step for us: “It is to look at another person and get a glimpse of what God is creating, and to say, ‘I see who God is making you, and it excites me! I want to be part of that. I want to partner with you and God in the journey you are taking to His throne.’” Now, here we are, living in Maryland and building a life we both love. We’re serving, growing, and deepening our relationships with our community—and feeling more thankful each day for how God brought us together at just the right time. --- Becca

Tall, strong, handsome, and a heart of gold - this man has got it all. Samuel is my brother from another mother and is one of the most joyful people you'll ever meet. Standing at 6 feet 7 inches, he should be the starting small forward for the Washington Wizards, but he's forsaken his basketball ability for a passionate love for Lulu Lemon and a strong taste in interior design.

Kayla is always ready to have fun—no matter the occasion—and she knows how to enjoy the simple things in life, like enjoying her favorite snack Cheez-Its or mini- dance parties in the kitchen. Over the years she’s been a kind and supportive friend to both Sam and me and we love her!!!!!

Shane is my other brother from another mother. The master question asker, the theoretical thinker, the coding connoisseur,  - is there anything he can't do? Shane and I have been best friends since Samuel introduced us in college and I'm so grateful to have him as a brother in Christ.

Somehow she manages to juggle nonstop adventures while still being the most intentional, thoughtful friend you could ask for. Drew is up and coming celebrity author, he just doesn't know it yet. Famous for his exceptional church strategy, he's probably one of the smartest people I know. I've learned much from him over the years and I expect to be humbled by him yet again the next time we meet at First Watch.

Paige is the friend who sends 10-minute long voice- memo texts (and we love her for it). She’s always checking in on the ones she loves and somehow remembers every detail of your life. When she's not dropping wellness tips as your go-to health guru, she’s being the most thoughtful, Jesus-loving friend you could ask for.

Well known by many for his acrobatic driving posture, Connor is an extremely intentional friend and mentor. And don't let his diet or love for Call of Duty fool you, he is wise and gifted beyond his years!

Hannah is known for her legendary 3-hour neighborhood walks and her deep love for family and friends. She’s one of the most intentional people you’ll ever meet, always showing up and giving her best. Her faith in Christ is the foundation of everything she does, and it radiates in her beautiful heart and spirit. We’re so lucky to have her by our side!

I'll let you decide whether or not that's a good thing. Adam's quick to make you laugh but quicker to make you feel seen and loved. He's a great friend, but he needs to spend less time investing in friendships and more time working on his golf game.
