Yellowstone National Park

Take a drive from Jackson to Yellowstone National Park! Truly one of the best (and biggest) National Parks in the country. You could spend a whole summer there like Olivia and still have new places to explore.


Recommendations:

Grand Prismatic Spring - Yellowstone’s largest hot spring.

Lamar Valley or Hayden valley - Great place to see bison and other wildlife.

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone - Experience the canyon from a variety of overlooks, a number of trails and walkways wind along the rims and down partway into the canyon.

Hiking - There are tons of hiking and walking trails all around the park. Just do a quick google search.

Yellowstone Lake/Lake Yellowstone Hotel - Beautiful lake and even more gorgeous hotel with a great restaurant.

Grant Village Lake House Restaurant - Beautiful sunset!


Closest entrance from Jackson is the South Entrance Station about an hour from the town center.

Old Faithful

Go see the most popular part of Yellowstone, Old Faithful! Make sure to stop in at the Old Faithful Inn Gift Shop to check out Olivia's old stomping grounds during her summer working at Yellowstone.

Watching Old Faithful Geyser erupt is a Yellowstone National Park tradition. Old Faithful is one of nearly 500 geysers in Yellowstone and one of six that park rangers currently predict. Surrounding it are hundreds of walking trails to see many other geysers.

Get your adrenaline pumping on a Jackson Hole whitewater rafting adventure! The Snake River is internationally known as one of the best and most consistent white water adventures in North America. Running through rapids with names like the Big Kahuna, Three Oar Deal, the California Curl, and Lunch Counter, you know that you are in for a top-notch adventure.


You don’t need any experience to go whitewater rafting in Jackson Hole, and it’s a great activity for most people.

On a scale from I-VI, the rapids on the Snake River are class II-III during normal water flows and are termed, “pool and drop,” which means they are spaced out with calm water sections in between.

Recommendations:

Jenny Lake - Visitors have many options when exploring Jenny Lake: hike a trail, take a boat ride, hang out by the lakeshore, or stop by the visitor center.

T.A. Moulton Barn - The barn (pictured above) is an iconic structure in Jackson Hole. The sunrise view with the barn in the foreground and the Teton Range as the backdrop is one of the most photographed locales in the valley.

Hike - Hike the hundreds of trails the Tetons has to offer; there are hikes for all ages and abilities. Hikers can loop Jenny lake, visit Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point or travel into the backcountry via Cascade Canyon Trail. Don’t forget that bear spray!

Bike - Rent an electric or standard bike and ride around the park or the valley to experience the views and animals in a whole new way.

Million Dollar Cowboy Bar

There is also an Alpine Slide at the same location for people wanting to try that. Same idea, just slightly different.

Take a ride on the Teton's most iconic tram! 10,000 feet above sea level, the highest point you can get to in all of the Tetons with a 360° amazing view of the mountains and the valleys below. Walk out on the newly constructed skybridge. Visit The Deck for some drinks and apps on top of the mountain by taking the Rendezvous lift, live music most evenings.

Phelps Lake Loop Trail

If you love hiking like Olivia or love jumping into the water like Sam, we highly recommend the 5-7 mile (8-11 km) hike up to Phelps Lake. It is a strenuous hike, but definitely worth it! Take a towel and your bathing suit because once at the lake, there's a cliff jump that's a lot of fun and safe to jump off! An experience you will never forget. Again, don't forget your bear spray!

Astoria Hot Springs and Park

Astoria is a non-profit, donor funded park, stewarded by Astoria Park Conservancy. Astoria's nearly 100 acres include critical wildlife habitat and wetlands, and hot springs.


If you have time to drive a little further out of town, we would also recommend spending a day Granite Hot Springs Pool. Swim in the hot springs or lay by the waterfall.
