Sam & Liam

Sam's Perspective

When people ask me how we met, I say how we have practically known each other our entire lives. We attended the same elementary, middle, and high school, played in the same travel little league, and were always involved in music. Our lives crossed paths many times but it wasn’t until our high school years that we really became close.

In these past 7 years of being with Liam, it is hard to articulate “Our Love Story” as it is still writing itself everyday.

I didn’t know how I was going to write this, but I found an old letter that I wrote Liam to open on the morning of our 1st Prom. I found this letter reflects similar feelings in the days and weeks leading up to our wedding. Here is a letter from Sam to Liam, June 22nd, 2017:

Liam

Ever since freshman year, I have always waited for this day to come. I was honestly unsure 3 out of 4 years of high school if I would have a date to prom. That all changed on May 29th when you said you would want to be my date to prom. That one simple gesture is the reason we are what we are today.

So as you are getting right about now, here are a couple of things that are going through my mind…

When I see you, I might cry. But don't worry, they will be tears of joy.

These millions of pictures we are about to take we will look at for years to come, so let’s cherish every moment of them.

This is the last time you will probably see me “this dressed up” until our wedding, so take some good mental pictures.

Finally, you promised me a year ago that you would slow dance with me, so even if we are in our pj’s at 12 am, I'll still be waiting.

Promise to never lose this letter… this one is important.

Now let’s go dance our asses off!

I love you, Liam Burkart.

Love always,

Sammie B.

Liam's Perspective

Sam has always been a rock star to me. I got to know her in our middle school’s productions of Grease where she was the lead. Though she probably had no idea I existed, I thought she was pretty awesome. The next year, Chris and Brian convinced me to audition for the school show. At the time, I was skeptical as I had never performed on stage before but I straightened my fedora and walked on stage as Big Jule in ‘Guys and Dolls.’ By Sam and I doing theater together in high school, we would eventually take the stage together. Despite our scene being all of two minutes, that was the foundation of where our relationship began. Fast forward to today and I’m marrying ‘Sandra Dee.’ It’s wild how long I’ve been waiting for this day to come and it’s finally here. Sam and I have been fantasizing about this day for a very long time. It’s been a whole lot of waiting and anticipation but that comes to an end as our big day nears. Looking forward to busting a move on the dance floor!
