Our Wedding

The Beginning We met in late 2018 at a BYX event. For context, BYX was the Christian fraternity Nick was a member of at University of Georgia. Our conversation was brief that fall night talking about books we were reading or enjoyed. Fast forward a few months to early February 2019, Sam and her roommate MaKenna went to Starland in downtown Athens for pizza on a Friday night. After dinner, they ran into Nick and his friend Max in downtown Athens looking for something to do. MaKenna had known Nick from BYX and working at Camp All American. With nothing else on the agenda for the night, Sam and MaKenna decided to tag along with Nick and Max as they were stalking their friend Sean on a date. After that night, Nick decided to make his move. He vetted Sam through some of their mutual friends before asking her out on a date to The Place in downtown Athens on February 13, 2019. The first date was a success! The next few weeks were filled with lots of study dates and episodes of Atypical . We decided to give it a real try on March 19, 2019 after a Skate Date night (see the picture above).

Year 2 looked a little bit different with lots of drives between Atlanta and Athens then drives between Atlanta and Augusta. Nick started his grown-up job in Atlanta! Sam graduated from University of Georgia in the midst of Covid-19. Covid-19 was devastating for so many but a silver lining of the lockdown was lots of time together for tennis and puzzles. In year two, we went on our first family vacations together - Marco Island with the Hodgkins and Santa Rosa with the Summers.

Year 2 

Year 3 was full of weddings for some of our sweetest friends! We continued the long distance grind making the most of our weekends together! We picked up pickle ball and hiked some of the AT together for the first time!

Year 3

Year 4 we got engaged in Whitefish, Montana on a ski trip! Nick planned a dream trip with an authentic ski lodge right on the slopes. We had incredible weather, fresh powder, and some great food! During year 4, Nick continued the grind in Atlanta and completed his Certificate of Financial Planning. Meanwhile, Sam continued clinical rotations and school in Augusta, GA.

From playing school as kids to pulling each others hair out in high school, Liv has been there for it all. She is the best at celebrating others and gives so much of herself to the people she cares about. I am so lucky to be on the receiving end of her generosity. It is a guarantee that she will bring the party.

Wyatt, I am sorry for knocking your teeth out when you were two years old. To make up for it, I have made you best man. 

But seriously, I could not ask for anybody better to be my best man. You are the life of the party, always know how to brighten any room, and I would be honored to have you brighten our wedding day.

Meeting during sorority rush, I knew I wanted to be friends with Jordan. Her carefree spirit and love for 90s country makes for an adventure every time we are together. I am already looking  forward to her Yee-yee on the dance floor at the reception. 

Jordan Bandy

Jacob (Jeegan) and I met in college and quickly became close friends. Growing closer when living with his family in the summer of 2018 while working at a summer camp together, Jeegan and I have been close friends ever since. This continued after college, as we have been roommates over the past few years. He is a friend who you can always count on, and I am honored to have him part of our special day.

Mary Schlies, my Colga girl (Colga is the endearing term for Columbus, GA). Mary and I met freshmen year at UGA and the rest was history. We survived living in a shoebox together our sophomore year. She has more than tolerated but LOVED me so well in the changing seasons. She is an encourager to all who know her and I am so lucky to have her by my side.

Landers and I grew close while living together during our first year out of college. We spent most of that year refining our tennis skills (under a rigid ping pong scoring system), and really soaking in all that television had to offer in 2020 - Ozark, Tiger King, The Last Dance - I'll stop there. I am glad that we have continued to stay close friends, and am thankful to have you in our wedding party. 





Landers Sentell 

Aubrey and I became quick friends in Athens with a shared love for coffee, getting outside, walks, talks about Jesus, and of course the dawgs. She is always in my corner. She is so thoughtful in her words and her friendship. 

Aubrey Neal 

Josh and I met in college, and quickly became close friends. I've always appreciated how easily Josh can get us all laughing. He is one of those friends to me that always makes things just a little more fun. I am thankful for our friendship Josh - and I can't wait to have you part of our wedding.

Mak and I became friends living together in our old and crusty apartment in Athens, GA. From late night talks on my bed to traveling together in Wyoming and Colorado, Mak is one of my favorite people in this world and such a blessing. 

MaKenna Merrifield 

Sean and I met in college, and really grew close through hobbies. I had never gone skiing, and Sean invited me on a 4 day trip to Breckenridge through his hometown church. Sean and I also took many trips to my grandparents farm in Commerce. Being only 30 minutes away from Athens, there were many days spent on the farm, and Sean was always the first one there. I am very thankful for Sean and his love for the outdoors. Glad to have you in our wedding party.

Emily and I both went to UGA but did not connect until medical school when we became roommates. By the time Nick and I get married, we will have been roommates for 4 years -- Time has flown! I am going to miss her grill skills, the porch hangs, landlord skills, and all her nuggets of wisdom. Thankfully, we get to celebrate with two weddings before we embark on new adventures. Cheers to the Kruegers! 

Emily Austin

Nick and I grew close living together my sophomore year of college. I have such great memories from that year - and Nick is in almost all of them. Years later - you now only live 10 minutes away, and are still such a great and consistent friend. I am very thankful for you Nick, and so happy to have you in my wedding party. 

Nick Owens

Bailey and I met in medical school as first years in the midst of COVID. Since then, we have bonded over our cringe love for Twilight and became roommates. She keeps me laughing and puts up with all my weird traits as a roommate. I am so thankful to have her by my side.

Nick and I grew close in college, but really bonded through our common interest of running. Nick and I signed up for a Triathlon in Jekyll Island my Junior year. Those months of training, and the race in Jekyll are such great memories for me. I am thankful that Nick and I have still continued to stay close through the years. Nick is such a loving guy - I think anyone who knows him can attest to that. I am thankful for you - and happy you will be in our wedding. 

Nick Leach

Max and I had many classes together in the business school at UGA, and quickly became close friends. If you know max - you know that you will never have a boring conversation with him. He is a wildcard in the best sense of the word. Max was also there the first time Sam and I really met, and gave me the pep talk needed to ask her on a date. Since then, he has been such a great friend, and has been so supportive of Sam and I through the years. I couldn't me more thankful for a friend like you Max, and I am so glad you will share this special day with us.
