Rewinding back to late February 2021: We still had to wear masks, but life was getting back to normal. After a long time of solitude, people were going out again. However, meeting and dating someone was even more challenging than ever. Casually introducing yourself and talking to somebody was no longer the social norm. People were sticking to their own crowds, leaving the dating world solelyi online.

Enter: Bumble, Samantha & Simon

After a few days of exchanging messages, Simon boldly suggested they meet in person. Normally, Sam would have thought to wait a bit before meeting, but thankfully someone had just given her some great advice about online dating.

Advice that was given: Do not get caught up in lengthy conversations online. Talk for maybe a couple days and then meet face to face (in a very public location of course).

Per her loved ones advice, Sam went on her first date with Simon. It was her first online date ever!

Simon picked the spot, a Billard hall. Our date ended after about four hours of conversation, laughter and playing pool (Full disclosure, Simon kicked Sams butt in just about every game). Even though Sam ran out the door (as Simon recalls it) he immediately texted her to make sure she had a good time and to schedule another date.

For the next date, Sam chose the location. Despite her scratched cornea, the second date at the comedy club was a success. It ended with Sam defending her honor and kicking Simons butt in cornhole (She apparently only needed one eye).

Frequently messaging over the next few days, the third date was soon to come. The plan was to have Simon meet Sams friends to see if they approved, and to confirm that he was not a serial murder. He passed with flying colors. Later that evening, they ended the night with a kiss. This was the moment that they began their future together!

As they say - the rest is history

Dating in a pandemic presented unique challenges, but also offered an opportunity to learn about each other on a deep, intimate and authentic level.
Together, weve discovered that the best adventures are the ones we create with each other and feel so grateful to have one another.
