Matt had lived in Charlottesville his whole life, and Sam called the area home until 2019. Somehow, though they both spent so much time in the same place, our paths didn’t cross until 2020—when fate brought us together on Bumble.We quickly realized we were a perfect match. Our first impressions were filled with laughter and mutual goofiness, with the same sense of humor that made us feel instantly at ease. From the moment we met, we could be ourselves, and that laid the foundation for everything that followed.Our first date was in Virginia Beach at The Cheesecake Factory, where Matt was on a work trip. We had just matched on Bumble, but by the end of the evening, it felt like the beginning of something special.With the pandemic keeping us apart for a while, we spent hours talking and getting to know each other, and before long, we realized we were in love. There wasn’t one specific moment—it just felt right.Since then, we’ve celebrated many milestones together—moving in together, relocating across the country in 2022, and even buying our first house in 2023. Through it all, we've built a life that feels like home.We love spending our time playing video games (often late into the night) and dragging Matt to Disney, which has become a special place for us. Our bond grew even stronger during Matt’s business stay in Maryland, when Sam would visit for a week at a time. It felt like we were living together, and it was perfect preparation for when Matt moved in with Sam shortly after.One of our most heartwarming memories is the first time Matt had to leave after a weekend visit to Virginia Beach. Sam was so upset that Matt turned around and stayed a little longer. It was a simple moment, but one that made us realize how deep our feelings had already grown.And then, there was the proposal. Matt surprised Sam with a special dessert party during the Happily Ever After fireworks show at Disney—making it the perfect setting to pop the question as the fireworks lit up the sky. It was a dream come true, and the show holds a special place in Sam’s heart.What makes our relationship unique? We’re pretty much the same person, with one brain cell between us. But that's what makes it so special: we simply fit together in the best possible way.
