Our Wedding

There are two different versions of the “Sam and Will Story.”&nbsp;There’s the Sam version...and then there’s the truth.&nbsp; The Sam Version On a cozy spring evening in New York City, Sam agrees to attend a concert in lower Manhattan with one of her dearest friends. Not familiar with the music, and not a particular fan of folk music in general, Sam spends the evening enjoying the company of her friend and two separate, complete entrees. While not taken in by the show itself, she was amenable to the artist; a handsome and curiously honest man with a distinctive beard who she bumped into a struck up an intriguing conversation with on her way to find the ladies room at the end of the evening. A conversation which would eventually blossom into a second one, and a third, and lead to phone calls, visits, and a late night, martini infused cab confession of love…. On the way to Popeyes William’s Version (aka, the truth) It was a night like so many others on tour; a new city, a new club, hundreds of fans waiting to hear a heartfelt performance and intensely intimate songs. This night would be different for one reason, though. The beautiful young woman waiting to meet William downstairs after the show. Among the kind well-wishers was a statuesque young woman with the most beautiful smile and gorgeous eyes.&nbsp;There were many women waiting to say hello, but this one William didn’t forget. Something about her stayed in his mind for the entire tour, and for the many, many months afterwards; lasting till the moment when he noticed a kind message from the beautiful woman from New York City awaiting him in his inbox. Her name was Samantha. Something was different about her. He was certain he’d never met anyone like her, and probably never would again.&nbsp; And She Said “Yes” Regardless of who’s version of our first meeting is actually the truth, one thing is for certain; there was a distinct curiosity, attraction and interest that neither had ever felt in that specific way before. It was like meeting the person who will become your best friend and knowing that before you have even spent any time together.&nbsp; Our early months were amazing, but not without trials. Amidst the joy and excitement of early dating and learning about each other, Sam was diagnosed with breast cancer. She weathered that storm how she does any other challenge in life: with grace and conviction. And while the experience might have ended most couples that early on, it actually caused us to grow even closer than before, having now had the chance to see a far deeper side than we otherwise would have.&nbsp; Over the course of that year, Sam and Will took turns visiting each other in New York and Illinois. Planes, suitcases and travels days became an integral part of their long distance relationship. As did facetimes and lots and lots of phone calls.&nbsp;Their closeness grew and deepened. Samantha began to develop a relationship with Will’s daughters as time went by. At some point their minds quietly changed from wanting to be together to not being able to imagine being a part. So one cold night in December, William got down on one knee in the middle of their favorite date spot, and while a violin player softly played “Your Song” by Elton John, he asked her to marry him. And she said “yes.”

Red line (1/2/3) on Broadway at 72nd St and 79th st Wedding Weekend Rundown&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We aren’t planning anything formal Friday or Saturday, as this is such a small Wedding Group ( and #COVID).
