In November of 2018, Sam finally caved on something she said she would never do. She downloaded a dating app. That same night, Dustin sent her a message complimenting a picture of Sam and her dog, Kona, at a MSU tailgate. He said "cute dog but wrong team." If anyone knows Dustin, you know how much of a UofM fan he is. They texted for 3 weeks before finally meeting on a Friday night at Old Shillelagh in Detroit. That night, Dustin told Sam that he was leaving for St Pete Beach, FL the following morning. After Sam revealed that she had a condo right down the beach from where Dustin was staying, he tried his best to convince her to make the trip down. For the next 2 days Dustin tried and tried to get Sam to fly down to Florida. Finally, by Monday afternoon Sam was on a flight with her cousin, Gabby, heading down to Florida to meet up with the boys. After returning from Fl, Sam and Dustin would spend the next few months using study time as a way to get to know one another. Sam was still in Nursing School at the time, and Dustin in Medical School. Due to their busy lives, in order to make time to see each other, Sam would drive down to Dustin's Detroit condo and they would sit in separate rooms studying for hours until finally ordering dinner and watching a movie. As time went by, Sam and Dustin grew closer and closer. They spent a lot of time studying and traveling together. When COVID hit, Dustin and Sam spent the entire quarantine together ordering DoorDash and putting together puzzles. They finally moved in together in October of 2020 after both landing jobs at Beaumont Royal Oak. For the next few years, Dustin and Sam spent a lot of time building a little family, traveling, and connecting over new experiences. In October of 2023, during a trip back to St. Pete, with their parents there to witness, Dustin asked Sam to marry him. I'm sure you can guess her answer since you've made your way to their wedding website. Sam and Dustin are so appreciative of those of you who have been supportive of their relationship and will be at their big day when they unite 2 families as 1! We look forward to celebrating with you!
