Would you believe us if we told you that on a random weekend in June 2019 at a personal development seminar in Calgary with over 100 other guests, we found ourselves sitting across from one another in a small group of 6 individuals sharing our deepest insecurities? Cause it’s true. That’s how we met.
At that time, Reid was living in Edmonton, had just graduated University and started his career with Capital Power. Samantha was living in Calgary and was one year in to her dream career as a social worker with Children Services. After crossing paths that weekend at the seminar, we went our separate ways. We never spoke again until…
October 2020, Reid remembered the pretty girl he met in Calgary one year prior and decided to message her about the exciting news that he was moving to Calgary for a new job opportunity with Capital Power and he was hoping he would have someone to "show him around the city." After a few back and forth messages, we decided to meet for a coffee. Reid will say this was only a “friend date” but it's funny how we've ended up here, 3 years later, getting married!
Dating during the pandemic was different, though it gave us a lot of opportunity to spend quality time with one another. Reid also spent a lot of quality time with Samantha’s dog Leonard, which at first he wasn’t too pleased with. Thankfully though, Leonard wiggled his way in to Reid’s heart!
It did not take long for us to know that the “friend date” we had gone on was actually the start of something amazing. The past 3 years have flown by! They have been filled with travelling near and far, quality time with family & friends, great triumphs and some let downs. But, that's what life is all about! We are so very excited to start this new chapter as husband and wife and to have our favorite people there to celebrate with us. Thank goodness we moved past “just friends.”
