How every good love story starts in this generation...Tinder! Just kidding, though we did meet through a dating app. It was a few weeks of messaging before we went on our first date—Jeff was spending all of his spare time preparing to sell his house in CT. When he FINALLY had a free moment, we met at The Grill on the Alley in Downtown San Jose for dinner. It was the best first date Sammy had ever been on - bar none!
It was a Friday afternoon in late November. We had plans to go to a local wine bar for happy hour that evening. A couple hours prior, Jeff suggested dressing nicer than usual and leaving early to make sure we get a table. Given the local restrictions set forth due to the pandemic, opportunities to dress up and go out were few and far between. Upon leaving for happy hour, Sammy proceeded to gab away about work, etc. for some time but eventually realized we were not driving to the wine bar. After being questioned by Sammy, Jeff stated that he was making a stop on the way, hence wanting to leave early. Sammy spent the next several minutes fearing that we would be late and not get a table. After a while longer, we approached a secluded beach off of the Highway 1 along the Pacific Ocean. Sammy noticed that there was a couple having a date on the beach and soon realized we would be doing the same. Jeff set up a blanket and prepared a cheese appetizer while Sammy suggested the wine be opened immediately. A few moments later Jeff got down on one knee and proposed as the sunset became brilliant in the background. Don't worry, he opened the wine after <3
