Keagan and Sami have known each other since junior high. They both attended Trinity High School and were friends throughout the years before graduating in 2017. While there may have been a spark while they were in high school, nothing ever came of it and they both went their separate ways after graduation. Keagan moved to Bismarck to play football at the University of Mary and Sami stayed in Dickinson to attend Dickinson State University.

The communication between the two was very slim after graduation besides the occasional "hi" when they bumped into each other or asking what the wifi password was when Sami was dog-sitting for the Hovets.

One random Thursday night, Keagan and Sami bumped into each other at a party. Sami tried to spark up a conversation with Keagan but he had little to say as he was really nervous. After this awkward encounter, Keagan decided to send Sami a text message explaining that after seeing her the week before he didn't want to miss an opportunity to take her on a date. While Sami was really unsure of this, she agreed, and about a week later they met up. Keagan was hoping to do dinner and a movie but Sami was nervous that too many people would see them together so they opted to go kayaking instead.

Keagan made many trips back to Dickinson in the following months. While Sami and Keagan had officially been dating for many months, they didn't really let many people in on the fact until about Thanksgiving time.

Sami and Keagan were engaged on December 21, 2022, at what was supposed to be Keagan's surprise birthday party that Sami was planning. The party instead turned into an engagement party with all their family and friends celebrating with them!
