We met when we were 12 at the River Falls Swim Club. Ben was fast and confident and had all the girls attention. Sam was determined and competitive but wasn’t gonna compete for Ben…. Yet. We were good friends as kids and as we got older only became closer. Until one day in college Ben asked Sam on a date to go dancing. The only snag was that Sam didn’t realize it was a date! But eventually we both got on the same page.
It hasn’t been easy and there were a lot of hard times and times of learning but God knew at the end of the day how growing up together and apart would make us the best versions of ourselves for each other someday. And this is that day.
Sam made it known throughout the years together that there were 3 things that needed to happen for the proposal.
1. There needed to be photos
2. Sam’s nails needed to be done
3. Ben needed to say more than “will you marry me?”
So on Friday Ben bought Sam a dozen red roses and took her to get her nails done in a beautiful little shop in the cities. He brought her back home and said they were doing a double date in the morning with friends followed by brunch, so we needed to dress nicer. Saturday morning he picked her up and went to a park in the cities that was quiet. It had the most beautiful view of the city skyline and a waterfront, two things that meant a lot to both of them. That’s when he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was a perfect moment. And Ben followed all 3 requests.
