March 4th, 2017 marks the day Derrick & Samantha officially met. It was a romantic setting, a dingy townie bar downtown Milwaukee during the annual St. Patty's Pub Crawl. This "date" was masterfully planned by a mutual friend of the soon-to-be couple, Lindsay Kohlman. After endless games of beer pong & flip cup, Samantha thought it'd be best to stop winning & get to know this ginger that kept staring at her.

Next thing you know, Derrick & Samantha start dating - move in together - and co-parent two lovely chiweenies, Tizzy & Uma. They take adventures to Florida (multiple times), Seattle, Colorado, and all across Wisconsin. They both coach & continue to play sports even when their bodies tell them otherwise. Speaking of which, they made it through two serious knee surgeries with Derrick.

August 31st, 2019 rolls around, Derrick's 29th Birthday. Samantha pulled out all the stops, renting a pontoon boat on Pewaukee Lake, inviting a group of their friends & spending the day cruising the lake/lake bars. Little did she know, Derrick was planning on proposing to her in the water, at the sand bar surrounded by friends...but when the day calls for 60 degree/mostly cloudy weather & the boat breaks down - he decided to getting down on one knee in front of the entire bar called Gina's Sports Dock. The start to forever began at a similar setting as their first date.
