Sam & her brother, Mick, were attending Rhythms on the River in Lafayette one Thursday night. Before heading home, he wanted to stop and say hi to some friends at Rock-n-Saki, a sushi restaurant in River Ranch. Sam already knew all of her brother's friends there, except 2, one of which was Corey. Mick introduced Sam to Corey and after shaking her hand, he proceeded with eating. After that, they crossed paths in the gym a few times and would cordially say hello to one another, but that was it. Somewhere along the way, they became friends on social media.

Fast forward, over a year later, Sam spent the 4th of July in Minnesota with her sister, brother-in-law, and friends. On her flight back, at the airport, she saw some tasty looking donuts and posted a video of them to her story. Corey in his boldness slid in Sam's DM's responding to this story post asking for her to bring him some. She responded with a "Haha, no." This innocent initiation turned into further conversation.

While their Instagram conversation was going on, Corey & Sam crossed paths in the gym. Unknowingly, Sam did not see Corey trying to tell her hello. This turned into an ongoing joke and a bet that eventually turned into Corey finally asking Sam out on a date.

Corey and Sam's first date consisted of a workout together, where Sam climbed the vertical rope more times than Corey! They then had dinner at Poke Geaux, a Poke place in Lafayette, LA, where they talked the rest of the night away. The rest was history!

After years of dating, Corey and Sam set out on their next adventure by moving from Lafayette, LA to Houston, TX, together, with Rue too, of course! Houston slowly but surely became their new home.

After 5 years of dating & an amazing trip to NY to visit Sam's sister, Leah, and brother-in-law, Andrew, the day came when Corey finally popped the question! Corey had the ring inside of a geode, hidden amongst the rocks while they were mining for herkimer diamonds in upstate NY. He called Sam over to take a look at this particular rock. Sam was quite confused by this random white rock with a rubber band around it, amongst all of the dark colored rock (you should have seen her face...it was priceless). While Sam contemplated what this random rock was all about, Corey nonchalantly got down on one knee, instructing Sam to open the geode. He asked her, "well what do you say, you want to do this thing forever." Sam's response was, "well duh!".
