Hunter and Samantha met during high school through Ashley Russ. Ashley is Hunter's cousin and she was also one of Samantha's friend. Hunter and Samantha became friends and would spend time together amongst others frequently. Both felt a spark between one another the summer of 2017, however Samantha was leaving for college out of state.

In September 2021 Hunter was visiting Arizona for a boys trip. Samantha was attending graduate school nearby and contacted Hunter to reconnect. Hunter and Samantha have been inseparable since that night!
