Mike has been teaching 6th grade at DC Everest Middle School for 6 years. Sam was finishing up her student teaching, in a 7th grade math classroom at DCE Middle School. Following her completion of her student teaching, she was offered a long term subbing job in 6th as an ELA teacher. It didn't take long for them to meet each other.

After a few months of working at DCEMS Sam had made friends with another ELA teacher. They began to hang out. This other ELA teacher asked Mike to join her, Sam, and a few other friends for a day of playing volleyball and having a few drinks. Although skeptical, Mike joined them and after a long day of playing volleyball, everyone, except Sam and Mike, left. The rest of the night Sam and Mike continued to sit and chat, and as they say....the rest is history.
