Q + A

We know that booking your stay for the wedding is a big decision, and we want you to feel completely comfortable throughout the process. We're here to help every step of the way and make things as easy as possible for you. Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions we’ve received so far.

We’re so excited to celebrate this special occasion with all of you and can’t wait to make unforgettable memories together. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’ll keep updating this page with the ones that come up most often!

What happen to Aruba and Jamaica?

To keep it short, the RIU Palace in Aruba unexpectedly closed for construction during our wedding dates. After the closure, communication from the hotel was minimal, leaving us feeling unwelcome. It was a stressful four weeks, but we were able to find the Bahia Principe Luxury in Jamaica!

Then hurricane Melissa hit. The hotel got very distant and wouldn't give us any straight answers. After a long conversation, we had decided to switch destinations again to their sister hotel, the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar in Punta Cana!

As a bonus, the hotel is handling all the moving of hotel rooms from Jamaica to Punta Cana so you do not have to do anything. Additionally, the price per guest per room at this resort is significantly more affordable. This means that, if you paid in full, you may be getting money back. If you did not pay in full, you will just have less you owe the resort.

Did Bahia Principe get bought by Hyatt?

Yes, the Bahia Principe got bought by Hyatt. In terms of your stay and our wedding, this has very little impact. The main difference is that come end of March, the MyBahia app will be deactivated and all your information and such will need to be accessed through Hyatt.

I can already hear your next question:

What if I don't have a Hyatt account?

Don't worry! If you don't have a World Of Hyatt account, simply sign up for a free account at Hyatt.com.

I hear another question coming:

What if my reservation is not showing up in the app?

If your reservation does not appear in the World Of Hyatt account/app, you will see a message that states the following:

"Missing a reservation? For assistance locating your existing reservation, please contact us at 1 800 720 0059 / +1 402 593 5064 or your nearest Hyatt Global Care Center."

Simply call the 1800 number and everything will be fine!

Booking

How do I book my room?

To book your room, please follow the steps below. Everyone needs to be booked by May 30th 2025 (if you are booking past this date, please contact Nick first).

Important note: the Bahia Principe website does not work well on mobile devices. If you see a blank white screen, it’s likely because you’re on a phone. To avoid this, please use a computer or set your phone browser to desktop mode.

1. Visit www.bahia-principe.com, select Punta Cana as the destination, and choose Bahia Principe Ambar (Adults Only). Enter your travel dates, which must be a minimum of 4 nights, and number of guests, then click “Book Now.”

2. Choose your room from the lower 3 categories available (excluding swim up corner rooms). NOTE: Swim-up Corner rooms are not part of our booking. Please do not select one.

3. Once you have decided on a room, be sure to select the 100% Flexible Rate so you can apply our group discount.

4. On the next page, check the "Do you have a discount voucher?" check box and enter the discount code in the “discount voucher” field. Select "Validate". This will update your total with the group rate.

5. You’ll have the option to pay in full or make a 20% deposit. After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation number and an email with your reservation details.

6. Please forward your booking confirmation to Nick once you finish booking—our wedding coordinator needs all confirmation numbers to keep things organized.

IMPORTANT: At check-in, you must present the credit or debit card used for the booking, as well as your passport. The hotel may verify your payment method. If you don’t have the original card with you, the hotel reserves the right to cancel your reservation.

If you have any questions or run into any issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to Nick directly.

Can I book my Transfer later?

Yes! If you do not know your flight number at the time of booking (as most of us won't) there are a few ways to book your transfer on the Bahia Principe website. At the very top of the page they have a Transfer page. Or, if you registered for MyBahia, you can add on the transfer simply by going to your booking.

NOTE: The Bahia Principe was bought by Hyatt so you may need to schedule your transportation with world of Hyatt instead.

When do I need to book by?

Rooms must be booked by May 30th 2025 due to the way the room block works. If you have any issues booking by that date, please let Nick know. Upon booking, only 20% of the total cost will be charged upfront.

Do I need to book through you or can I book on my own?

All guests will book their own rooms, but please use our wedding block code to receive an exclusive discount and ensure you're included in our event.

Additionally, sign up for MyBahia, the hotel’s free membership program, to get an extra 5% off your room.

NOTE: The Bahia Principe was bought by Hyatt so by the time you book, they may have switched over to Hyatt instead. Ask Nick for more information on this.

Can I stay longer than the 5 days?

Yes! We encourage you to stay as long as you’d like in Punta Cana. If you’d like to stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar for the wedding and then switch to another hotel afterward, that’s completely fine. We just ask that you book your stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar for our wedding.

If you’d like to extend your stay at the Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar beyond 5 days, Nick would be happy to provide you with information on how to do so.

Cancelations or Modifications

In order to cancel your booking, you will need to EMAIL the Bahia Principe Reservations department (reservations@bahia.principe.com) with your booking confirmation number (that starts with BPU).

If you are simply looking to make modifications to your reservation, such as changing your length of stay, upgrading or downgrading your room, etc., please contact the groups department (groups1@bahia.principe.com) to do so. You will either need to identify yourself by providing the name of the person who reserved the room along with the group booking number (92888), or provide your booking confirmation number that starts with BPU.
