Looking back on how we met, it’s impossible not to believe in fate.

Alex and I joined Bumble after about a year of being single. For those not familiar with the super complex world of dating apps, Bumble is just like most apps, with the exception that the women have to reach out first to open the line of communication.

Alex swiped right on my profile & we MATCHED! Unfortunately for him, the match expires after 24 hours of no communication. In his words, he looked at my photos over and over again hoping to hear from me. With only a few minutes left before our 24-hour window closed, Alex “extended” his match to give me more time to reach out. Moments later, our love story began.

My message to Alex consisted of a simple, “Happy Friday!” I was smitten that this man extended our match just to talk to me, I couldn’t think of anything more clever to say. We quickly exchanged numbers and got to know each other via text.

After waiting for Alex to make the first move, I eventually planned our first date for us. He picked me up at my house like a gentleman. He was smiling ear to ear when he saw me. I couldn't help but blush. It was a beautiful night sitting on the patio at Indeed Brewery in Minneapolis. We chatted about our families and quickly realized we grew up less than 2 hours from one another. From there, we continued our date at the Sample Room in Northeast. We talked for hours, losing track of time until the waitress informed us that they were closing.

We headed back to Alex’s truck where we shared our first kiss. It was at that moment I truly believed in love at first sight. A few pedestrians walking by clapped and cheered for us. The moment is very memorable.

From there, everything fell into place for us. Shortly after moving in together, Alex got down on one knee in the sand on Hilton Head Island. It was an easy “yes” for me! Our story came full circle when passing pedestrians cheered and clapped for us in the distance.
