While Sam and Corey had noticed each other throughout their time at Olivet College, it was not until their senior year in jazz band where Corey caught an eye for Sam. She was a music major, playing in four of the six music ensembles while he was a journalism major with a passion for music. Sam and Corey started talking during their final semester of college and with the help of friends, finally became boyfriend and girlfriend on January 23, 2019.

After a whirlwind semester and graduating out of college, Sam and Corey navigated post-college life with difficult career moves and even a global pandemic. They did, however, live pretty close, which was even better. Families were met, friends were made, and nothing could stop them. Many dates were had throughout this time, especially going to a Barnes and Noble, one of the couple's favorite stores.

After dating for four and a half years, Sam and Corey moved in together and a few months later, adopted a tuxedo cat named Houdini. The little family settled in together (while trying to ignore all the geese surrounding the apartment).

On January 25, 2025, after six years of dating, Corey asked Sam to marry him in a parking garage in Grand Rapids, hiding the ring in his car glove compartment and faking a sneeze to find it. Sam and Corey are now currently navigating the crazy world that is wedding planning. This is only the beginning of their story...
