It was peak pandemic: July 2020. Sam and David were both separately living their social distancing lives when fate brought them together on the dating app "Coffee Meets Bagel."
Sam was intrigued by this handsome and tall man from the DMV who also happened to have lived in NYC previously (Sam's hometown). They quickly learned they both went to college on Long Island at the same time a decade earlier-- only a few miles apart, but never knew it at the time.
Sam was so impressed by one of his earlier questions to her on the app: "Are you Russian?" David asked. Sam laughed and knew exactly why he was asking. Sam grew up in a neighborhood with a heavy Russian/Ukrainian population. It was a question only someone who knows Brooklyn would ever think to ask. It was charming and clever.
Their first date was at a rooftop bar in the Wharf. Even with a broken blood vessel in her eye, David told her that her green eyes were stunning. The conversation flowed effortlessly and a bond was instantly formed. David has taken Sam all around D.C., introducing her to traditions and places so unique to the District.
Now, more than four years later, David and Sam have built a wonderful life of partnership and love together. They care for their dog son Pee Wee. They are co-homeowners of a condo in the heart of D.C. You can find the two enjoying home-cooked meals, watching documentaries, going out on the town in D.C., enjoying live comedy, and traveling in their spare time. They unapologetically live a childless life together by design. A true D.C. love story.
