Samantha, growing up in Georgia with a passion for grassroots politics, found a connection with Corey, a native of Mayfield, KY, and an adventurer at heart. Corey had many hobbies– owning a farm, a sailboat, and a motorcycle. Samantha was also very active and played two sports in college- golf and lacrosse. Despite their different backgrounds, they found common ground through their shared love for laughter and exploration. Samantha, at the time residing in Kentucky, thought she’d be moving back to Georgia eventually. Little did she know… timing is everything!

Samantha enjoyed live music at a local Lexington venue, and fate worked magic to bring them together. One night, Samantha connected with a friend, asking him to join the live music. This friend would bring Corey, and for the first time, she and Corey met in person. That night, Samantha noticed she laughed more than usual, and the conversation was great with Corey. Corey’s recollection of the initial meeting might be different…

From Samantha's perspective, Corey's quick wit and the ability to make her laugh stood out from the beginning. There was an immediate connection that sparked something special between them. The early days were filled with adventures, with most of their time spent traveling together. Exploring new places and creating memories became the cornerstone of their growing relationship. From an overnight day trip to New York to hiking an active volcano together. The adventures have continued in Portugal, from Lisbon to Paris, and even a spontaneous decision to attend a Buffalo Bills playoff game in Buffalo. Samantha loves how Corey challenges her; there is never a dull moment.

As a couple, they faced challenges head-on. Samantha worked on two campaigns within a year, with Corey “eagerly” helping her along the journey. One of the campaigns had Samantha and Corey living in Mayfield on family property. Already occupied with two barn cats, turned house cats, Corey eventually added goats and sheep to the mix.

Samantha loved that Corey guided her through physical and emotional challenges, knowing discomfort makes people better. Her ability to be vulnerable through the challenging times bonded their relationship and trust.

The engagement was everything Corey promised Samantha. Corey surprised Samantha on Leader McConnell’s balcony—an unexpected and utterly romantic setting. Samantha was so taken aback that Corey had to reassure her there was no political fundraiser that night.

They cannot wait to spend the rest of their lives together, creating more memories through their shared love of traveling and laughter. Together, both are ready to embrace the journey ahead, knowing their love will only deepen with time.

Corey loves showing Samantha the Western Kentucky life. From sailing, tending to farm animals, or navigating “cabin projects,” he knows neither of them will ever be bored in Western Kentucky. Corey is excited to embark on the next chapter together.
