Samantha and JB both met when they" swiped right" on each other on the dating app, Tinder. On April 20, 2017 they had their first date as well as met in person for the first time. They met at Texas Roadhouse in Henrietta. Samantha was so nervous, she choked on her first bite of food and had to excuse herself to the bathroom. JB won Samantha over when she came back from excusing herself to the bathroom and found JB had paid the bill and got boxes to go in the event Samantha would come back and wanted to leave. JB surprised Samantha at the end of the night with flowers after leaving the restaurant.

To those who do not know them:

Samantha is an only child and grew up in Rochester, NY on the west side of town. She graduated from Churchville Chili High School in 2011 and eventually SUNY Geneseo with a Bacherlor's in Psychology. She is currently pursuing her Master in Social Work from SUNY Brockport and will graduate May 2022 and anticipates being a licensed social worker by wedding day.

James (JB) grew up in Palmyra, New York. He graduated from Palmyra-Macedon High School in 2009 and went on to SUNY Cortland and attained his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. In 2017, shortly after meeting Samantha, JB graduated from the Rochester Police Department academy and is currently a patrol officer with the department.

On July 8, 2021, James took Samantha out to dinner at her favorite restaurant - Olive Garden. It was late and the restaurant was closing soon. The guests at the tables around the couple had left and the server went to go get to-go boxes to bring back for Samantha and James. Samantha was on her phone, waiting for James to pay the bill when he got down on one knee. Samantha was in shock and excitedly said "of course!"
