Belong Together

It was the day after Christmas when we agreed to our first date. As a common meeting place, we had decided to grab lunch in Port Jefferson. Upon arrival, we were able to walk along the waterways, learning more about one another. Finally, we decided it was time for lunch and we chose Danford's as our first meal together. To this date, Port Jefferson has a special place in our hearts.

As the years went on, we went on many adventures. Sam tried rock climbing, which lead to one of our first trips. Along with our friends Ken, Ali and Ryan, we went to Kentucky and stayed in a cabin at the Red River Gorge. During this trip, we were able to experience climbing in Muir Valley with our friends, hiking through the woods taking in all that was around us. On our own, we were able to take a kayaking tour of the salt mine caves of Kentucky. A trip neither of us would forget.

Trying things together is a theme in our relationship. One of the activities we tried and continue to do today would be painting. One day Sam asked if we could try a paint and sip night. We signed up for a night out in Port Jefferson at Muse with neither of us knowing what it would entail. Enjoying the atmosphere and activities, paint night became a fun date night for us. We have gone several times over the years back to add to our collection of paintings. This was the spark of deciding how we would be engaged. Being as how our first date was in Port Jefferson, we had gone to date events in Port Jefferson; such as breweries, ice sculpture tours and paint nights, it was the perfect setting for asking for Sam's hand in marriage. On August 3rd, the day had come. We went to dinner with Sam's brother Steven and his girlfriend Jill, where I informed them I would ask at the end of the paint night. With their support, at the end of a stormy night, I was finally able to ask the question only to be met with a resounding yes.

And so our story continues onto our next journey in life together. We appreciate all that have been a part of and will be a part of our future. Please join us in our celebration of our union this summer on July 27th.
