Sam and Gabe’s journey began in the summer of 2009 when they were both 19 years old, home from college and ready for adventure. One sunny day, Sam rolled through the gates of Camp Harkness with her sister Caroline, catching Gabe’s attention from the moment he saw her. To this day, Caroline and their ol’ buddy Nick still argue over who actually introduced them. After a few group hangouts, Gabe finally mustered the courage to call Sam on her trusty flip phone and ask her to go kayaking down the Niantic River. Their first date was full of adventure and laughter as they paddled down the river and jumped off High Rock together—a memory that would stay with them for years to come. For the rest of college, Sam and Gabe spent their summers working at Camp Harkness, deepening their connection while soaking in every moment together. Over the years, life took them on different paths, with time spent both together and apart. But no matter where they went, their love and shared destiny always brought them back to each other. Fifteen years later, on that same beloved rock by the Niantic River, Gabe knelt down and asked Sam to marry him as boaters nearby cheered them on. In perfect harmony, they jumped off that rock once again, just as they had on their first date—together. Sam and Gabe are so grateful for the supportive roles that their dear friends and family have played in their shared journey over the years.
