Our story began in 2019. It was the first semester of freshman year for both of us at Grand Valley State University. We were in the same History and English classes together. In English class, Garret was sitting behind me and my talkative self kicked in and I noticed he was wearing an ACHA hockey bracelet. I asked him about it and he said he played on the Men’s team at GV and I told him I was goalie on the Women’s team. An instant connection!

Once class was over, he asked if I wanted to meet up with him and a group of others in the library to work on an English project that was assigned. When I showed up at the library, I was surprised that he was the only one there! Very sneaky but it worked. We sat in the library and talked for 8 hours straight! We talked about life, family, friends, our careers and relationships. That day, we discovered each other and have been together ever since.
