After moving to Arizona in 2019, Sammie thought it would be a great idea to meet people through the dating app, Bumble! After matching with Miguel, they soon started chatting. Miguel first was too busy to hang out and their plans failed on a Friday night because he was babysitting his little brother (Sammie did not believe this- but it was true)! A week later, they make plans to meet at a local bar near the ASU campus, Pedal Haus. As Sammie was almost there, she saw a guy she thought could be Miguel and almost cancelled the date. Good thing she didn't, because here we are! After a few drinks, Sammie beat Miguel multiple times at pingpong and bags. They then went over to Miguel's house. Background info: Earlier in the day, Sammie's parents wanted her to go pick them up a table they found on Craigslist on Orchid Ln. They decided that they didn't want that table anymore and I should forget about it. The coincidence in this story is that Miguel lived on that same exact street. Orchid Ln. When they saw Sammie's location at Orchid Ln, they wondered if she was getting the table. After a few hours of not being able to reach Sammie on this Sunday evening, they began to panic thinking I was abducted by a Craigslist Killer. This was very unlike "grandma Sammie" to be out late on a Sunday, which grew the suspicion even more. When Jeff &amp; Ranee called Uncle Ron &amp; Aunt Joann (who she was living with at the time), they confirmed they thought she was on a date, but the hadn't heard from her for hours. As Miguel's roommate comes home, he asks Miguel, "Hey, do you know a girl named Samantha? The police are here looking for her." Miguel and Sammie looked at each other like, there is no way. Sammie goes outside and there are the police looking to ensure her safety. (Keep in mind, this is the first day Miguel and Sammie met)! After calling Jeff &amp; Ranee, Sammie could hear the desperation in their voices to ensure she was safe and explain that they thought she was getting abducted after going to find the craigslist table. As you can imagine the immense embarrassment Sammie felt, she also felt so bad for putting her parents through that- but that didn't stop her from removing them on find my friends so they could no longer see her location (lol)! Don't worry, they are back as friends on find my friends and can still see each others location. After all of that fun, Miguel decided that this girl is interesting... and he continued to give it a go! Months later they made it the real deal- boyfriend &amp; girlfriend in October of 2019. YEARS later ... Miguel finally asked Sammie to marry her while at the top of the Summit One at Vanderbilt building in NYC on December 29th, 2023. One of the most magical days of her life!
