In January 2014, Samantha's coworker told her about "this real nice guy" who was apparently "perfect for her." Her first reaction was to cry, get hives and say no out of apprehension. Her coworker took that as a sign she wasn't yet ready. She let a few months ago by, realized that she kept thinking about the possibilities of starting fresh, and just going on a date, figuring what harm could it be? The beginning of May proved to be a good time to tell her coworker that she felt ready to meet this "nice guy" and was willing to take the chance. Brian got her number from his friend, sat around with it for a few days (too long) and then decided to call (he got points for not texting that first time).
Right after Memorial Day weekend, Brian called Samantha on a random Tuesday night around 8:00pm and they talked for over an hour. Five minute into the conversation, they realized they had the same birthday and took that as a sign of some kind of fate. While they were both nervous, they wanted to meet and see how they got along. They agreed to meet at Egan's in Montclair for their first date, but when the day came, Brian quickly changed the spot to Avenue Bistro in Verona and it proved to be a perfect spot. Brian parked next to a small black car, realized Samantha was inside and said a few curse words to himself before getting out of the car. He knew then this was the girl. They sat and had Heineken Lights over hours and hours of conversation, talking, cracking jokes on each other and laughing.
From that night on, they spent almost every day together, sometimes even just a few minutes just so they could see each other. The rest is the reason we're getting married :)
