Colin and Sami both grew up in Iowa, Sami in Grimes and Colin in Park View. Colin traveled to Ames, Iowa to pursue a degree in engineering where he met a unique group of friends. Sami traveled to Iowa City, Iowa to pursue a degree in biology. She always seemed to be making trips to Iowa State University to visit her unique friends from home... The two first crossed paths in the fall of 2019, unknowingly attending a Halloween party with the same group. Sami was actually quite upset that "some kid" that she had never met took the name that she wanted on the nametag for her costume. A photo was taken, no words were exchanged. Throughout the next years small conversations were had, often ending in Sami annoyed due to being corrected by Colin numerous times. In the fall of 2021 thanks to yet another gathering hosted by the band of friends at Iowa State, Sami and Colin sat down and saw each other for the first time, somehow talking over the bass pouring out of their now mutual friends speaker just feet away. In next few months the two continued to get to know each other from a distance of 2 hours with occasional visits to their respective colleges. It was in February of 2022 that the two decided that this was something exciting. They continued to see each other on weekends, and were constantly discussing the weeks events over the phone. Memories were never ending, including, but of course never limited to, sorority formals, concerts, sporting events, and study nights. Sami was scheduled to begin studying to be a Physician's Assistant in Omaha, NE in the fall of 2023. Knowing this, Colin took a civil engineering job in Norfolk, NE. Over the next year he supported her through weeks of exams and stress, driving the 2 hours to Omaha almost every single weekend. He must not have been intimidated or scared off by the study crashes or countless post-test calls, because on July 3rd of 2024 he made sure that their story will continue to be written.
