Samantha and Austin went to the same high school, though they were in different grades. Samantha was a senior when Austin was a sophomore. Austin had a really big crush on Samantha and was persistent about taking her on a date. However, since Austin wasn’t old enough to drive, Samantha had to pick him up. Their first date was to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (classic!). Austin proudly told all his friends he scored a date—and a kiss—with the "hot older senior." To this day, Samantha suspects he made that part up, as it wasn’t all that memorable (sorry babe!).

Fast forward a decade to January 2023—Austin reached out to Samantha, asking if she was single and if he could take her out. She avoided his request for a second date for about a week, telling him she was "too old for games" (in true Samantha fashion). Eventually, she decided to give him another chance—after all, men do mature eventually, right? Their first date at the end of January led to something special, and by the grace of God, they became inseparable best friends.
