Samantha and Tyler met Sophomore year of college in the spring of 2020 at Lawrence Tech. They had several classes together that semester and exchanged numbers to work on homework while completing the semester from home during the pandemic. Their first date was to the Woodward cruise where they watched all the classic cars, ate pizza and custard. Tyler asked Samantha to be his girlfriend on the second day back to school that fall.

In February 2025, Tyler surprised Samantha and flew down to Florida when she was visiting her family. Her family had set up an afternoon lunch on the water with the girls while her Dad picked Tyler up at the airport. His flight was delayed so everyone had to come up with an excuse to delay lunch. Samantha and her family went out on the dock to take pictures by the water for their annual Christmas card and Tyler was there down on one knee. Samantha was truly surprised and couldn’t even remember if she said yes.
