Our Wedding

Final year of medical school, with rotations done and exams passed. I&nbsp;found myself in a period of lull, after all the years of school, I looked up and decided focus on something other than my career. I decided to test the waters. Living in New York, Coffee meets Bagel was a cute website and their algorithm seemed to be vetted. We matched and both stepped into the unknown, going on our first date on 01/28/2016 in Riverdale, NY. A week later, I agreed to a second date but with strings attached. Little did Andrew know those strings came in the form of reunion with two of my oldest friends (friends since 5th grade). He showed up on what he thought was an ice skating date and I had two other girls with me, none of whom knew how to skate. This is when I knew that Andrew is a gem to keep in my life. He survived ice-skating with no injuries to either party.&nbsp;

Samfee's Perspective

It started with watching an episode of Shark Tank in 2015. A group of young women turned down a $30 million deal for their dating app. If the Sharks saw the value, I would have to try it out. A few months later, I matched with this girl who loved bachata, adventure, and new activities. We went out on a date in Riverdale. I have zero recall of what transpired, but thankfully, the connection was good enough for a second date. This time, we decided to go ice skating in Bryant Park. I looked forward to the activity as it would be mutually humbling. Samfee had never ice skated, and I had not been in 10+ years. Lo and behold, Samfee would drop the first of many surprises in our relationship when she asked if two friends could join the date. Thankfully, despite many scary moments, we made it through that date with all fingers accounted for. This would be the start of a friendship-turned-relationship over the next 10 years.

Aka my little big sister and shero. Blessed to have a sister who exemplifies diligence. You have shown me and continue to show me that I could do it all; have a career, be a mother, and have fun while doing it. Love that I get my own personal accountant, because we all know I live up to my nickname very well "the economist" as I am always on a budget. Our favorite memory is the boat ride and our impromptu photoshoot we had celebrating your birthday.

Aka Ma fashionista. Blessed to have a friend who loves to travel as much as I do and looks fantastic at all times. We've had many adventures over the last 13+ years, from Grenada to NY/NJ to Arizona to Nawlins to Peru. Our favorite memory remains the ending of our trip to Grand Canyon; trying to change a tire on an in-illuminated country highway, trying not to become roadkill and then getting carried away marveling at the night sky and the constellation.

Aka ma cherie. Immensely grateful I had you during medical school. A reminder to stay grounded in my faith and live life to the fullest. So many memories but the one I cherish the most is the weekend at sea. That was a trip with so many cherished moments, the island bar, swimming with dolphins, staring up at the night sky while being rocked to sleep was truly soul filling. Glad I have you along this journey called life.
