Our Story

The true origin story of this duo is one only the bystanders can tell. Who came on to who? Whose pick up line sealed the deal? Did the fridge have anything to do with it? The world may never know. But what is known is, thanks to Mrs. Megan Burnham's, our Matron of Honor, determined introduction between coworker and best friend, an ill-fated New Year's kiss on 1/1/2018 turned into a forever kind of love that would change them both forever! Fun Fact: Sami had just started working two jobs when they met, so Vince chivalrously called out "sick" to take her on their first date to Motor Co... And nearly got himself fired from the CCU as a result...

It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this...

Things escalated from there: winning over respective families, nights out in Chapel Hill, the Duke Friends of Nursing Gala, throwing the best combined birthday parties, conquering Vince's fear of hurdling down a ski mountain, Sami's fear of vegetables and exotic foods, Airlie Garden Parties, and the weddings....so many weddings! Life was good. They had just gotten their first apartment together, ready to tackle their newest adventure of simultaneously attending grad school - which ended up being "Grad school from the one bedroom apartment, limited social contact, FOMO, all while sharing one bathroom"...The #dumpsterfire of 2020 fell upon us.

I'm In Paradise Whenever I'm With You...

The next three years were a testament of not only their strength as a couple, but also to their perseverance as individuals. Sami's type A personality shone as she organized calendars and meal schedules to ensure they wouldn't live off takeout. Between his own classes, Vince cooked said meals for her and her study group to keep up morale. Stress cleaning the apartment became a competitive sport. The smell of bleach still brings back PTSD of "night before a new rotation" scaries. They leaned on each other as they conquered Zoom University, a year of alternating out of town clinical placements, and board exams. In the end, it brought them new careers, their sweet puppy Kali, two degrees, the purchase of their first home, and so much more!

You've Got The Best of My Love...

So we come now to the end of the saga, the part all of you really care about: The Yes Day! On 6/19/23 - after the surprise was spoiled by the jeweler, many months of (impatient) waiting, and 24 hours of unfortunately timed illness - Vince had planned out the perfect proposal in Cancun, Mexico! A private beachside dinner at the resort (that Sami yelled at him for paying extra for), to be followed by a stroll down the beach at sunset (that was cancelled due to late delivery of dessert), aimed at heading right towards hidden friends ready to photograph the moment (who waited over an hour and a half only to miss the whole thing). Instead, in true Sami and Vince fashion, the proposal ended up being a surprise to them both, when a mal-timed dessert delivery spelling out "congrats on your engagement" beat Vince to the punch - only to have Sami scream out "WAIT ARE YOU SURE?!?" as he bent down on one knee next to the table. But we wouldn't have it any other way! We are so excited to celebrate this next step in our journey with all of you on 10/11/24! Let's just hope we remember this day a little bit better than we did our first day...

Get To Know Our Bridal Party

Team Bride

Meg and Sami met in 2012 during freshman year of nursing school. They survived the grueling curriculum (and many a night at Grottos!) and ended up moving to NC together after graduation. Sami may never have survived the move without her but also would have never met Vince, who was a fellow nurse on Meg's unit! I am so grateful to have her as my best friend, our matchmaker, and now also as our Maid of Honor!

Megan Burnham

Aly met Sami on her first day of life when video footage revealed Sami actually holding her baby sister, and then promptly insisting she was "done with that". Things have only gone up since then. As the Bride's little sister, Aly has played a huge role indoctrinating Vince into the family, catching him up to speed on the Moyer family values, and bonding over their shared love of picking on Sami during all family vacations.

Alyson Moyer

Amy and Sami met at Camp Tioga in the summer of 2014, where they shared a cabin of dare I say, the age group misfits. They further connected after camp, when Amy invited herself to stay in Sami's college apartment for a whole week, and even impersonated a nursing student. Since, they continue to visit each other's respective countries most Augusts, and stay close by sending each other local snacks via Royal Mail.

Amy Beckett

Leah and Sami met at Camp Tioga in the summer of 2013. They were fast friends and shared a day off, where they bonded at the salvation army and by running away from Leah's now boyfriend of 10+ years, Milky (I mean Joe). Their 3 summers in neighboring bunks led to a lifelong title of being each other's "exit buddies", and Leah continues to fuel Sami's travel bug to this day.

Hollie and Sami also met at Camp Tioga in summer of 2013, they became friends night 1, and Sami convinced Hollie to be trained as a "bungee specialist" so they could hang out more. Sadly, our second summer, Hollie wasn't able to return, but that didn't stop her from flying all the way across the world to surprise Sami by being in her parent's house when she came home after camp. Since then, they've continued to stay close through all of life's big events, and visits when they are able. Sami is still trying to convince Hollie to take the American NCLEX so she can move over and become a nurse in the states! 

Hollie Templeton

Jess and Sami met on interview day for the Duke PA program in 2019. They bonded over their shared gruesome tales from being trauma nurses, and Sami knew she'd have to make this girl her friend! Sami insisted Jess join her study group and persistently invited her to everything, even though Jess "hated" NC. She "hated" it so much, that she even decided to stay and take a job here after graduation, only if Sami agreed to start playing pick up soccer with her...which they quickly realized that their bodies were no longer cut out for. She is a painter of houses, lover of quality literature, connoisseur of fine whiskeys, and overall a top notch friend! 

Jessica Harris

Paige and Sami also met during their time in PA school, where Paige was everyone's number 1 cheerleader, and reminded Sami to still have fun during the stress of grad school by always planning Friday Night Drinks and getting Sami into rock climbing! Paige has since become Vince and Sami's go-to dog whisperer, puppy sitter, and overall great friend! She even has a key to her house, which Sami and Vince now regret, as she has been known to sneak in once or twice :)

Paige Mercaldi

Christa and Sami initially met sophomore year of college through their sorority. They really became close when they tackled running the chapter together as the President and VP Programming, sitting in front of chapter meetings and dealing with the never ending dramatics. To this day, Christa is Sami's favorite pitstop when driving home from PA, and they continue to bond over their mutual love of wine and trashy reality television. She is a true Dream Girl <3

Christa Zeladonis

Isla is the groom's niece and is the daughter of groomsman, Jeff. Isla and Sami instantly bonded over her sassy but poignant quips, picking on her Tito Vince when she visited NC a few years ago! She is a gal of many talents, from singing, to ukelele, to karate. We are so excited to have Isla join us as a junior bridesmaid, representing for the Pareja side!

Our Team Bride could not be complete without our sweet flower girl Gemma! She loves everything Disney and Princess Elsa, but we hope she doesn't bring any ice storms to the wedding day. Not only can we not WAIT to see her in her adorable dress - but we are also really hoping for one of her traditional judgmental stares that she is known for flashing at Vince, just to make sure the Groom remembers no one messes with her big cousins!

Aldrin Hewakopara

It has been a mutual decision by both parties that Aneesh and Vince do not remember how they met or when they started hanging out but those are just details. He's here, he's there, he's every f'n where, Ah Neesh Ah Neesh! He is what you would call a sip of lemonade on a summer day. They still haven't won a tennis match together, but day one.. I mean one day.

He does not need words of introduction. Trailblazer number 1. Paved the way for trailblazer number 2 and then the groom, Vince. Father of the junior bridesmaid, Isla, and newest baby niece, Hiraya! The first person to make Vince an uncle! So many more accolades but so little space.

Jeff Pareja

He also does not need words of introduction. Trailblazer number 2. Father of the ring bearer, Ian! Now carrying the Pareja torch in the Duke CCU! The legacy continues on. And when he lives just a stone's throw away from the groom, random dinner get-togethers and inuman sessions are a given! 

Ivan Pareja

Husband of the matron of honor, Meg. He is what you would call a warm hug on a brisk fall day. If you happen to be floating down a river, this man will guide you through perilous rocks and water vegetation all while he holds a beer in his left hand. Vincent and Sami are excited for the future when all four of them watch sunsets from cruise ships.. Our rocking chair era!

Robert Burnham

Through thicc and thin. Kelsey and Vince have been through the trials of bedside nursing and anesthesia school together. There is no one he would trust more with his life than this girl. They share the same love of cooking and eating delicious creations. May she one day put Vince in the k-hole!

Kelsey Getzloff

Lopo and Vince don't remember how they first met but it probably went something like this:
Vince music blaring whilst doing nursely duties. Lopo walks by and hears dope music and pokes her head in. Heads bob and bonds are made.
To this day they exchange tunes that catch each other's ears. Vince and Lopo are music soul sisters.


Lauren Powell

No words needed. Krystle and Vince have been friends since his family first moved to Raleigh. Vince has known her since middle school, for sure one of the oldest friends that he has. She is truly the big sister that he never had. They survived rooming together and will always be there for each other no matter what!

Wesley will round out team groom as our junior groomsman by representing the extended Moyer family! He is the son of Sami's cousin, Krista, is a big Phillies fan, and is one of the smartest kids we know!

Wesley Chen

Ian will be acting as ring security for his Tito Vince's wedding band during our ceremony! He is the son of Vince's brother Ivan, loves all things Ryan's World, and collecting as many pokemon cards as he can!

Ian Pareja

Austin is also helping represent the Moyer side, by acting as ring security for Sami's wedding band! Just like the cars on the Tomorrow Land Speedway, he'll race that ring to safety at the end of the aisle...hopefully without bumping any "cars" in front of him like he enjoyed doing while he and Vince rode the ride together 3x at the Magic Kingdom!

There are 15 rooms reserved for this room block, however, more can be added if needed. This hotel is about a 5 minute drive from the venue.

There are only 10 available rooms at this site. Hotel is about 15 minutes from the venue, and is situated in the middle of Downtown Raleigh, ideal for those not looking to rent a car/want to be able to easily walk around to find food or things to do while in town

We were unable to make a second hotel block downtown, but below are a few great options! Both are about a 15 minute drive from the venue, and within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, and activities to explore Raleigh! After an amazing night celebrating, we recommend a solid brunch the morning after. As season ticket holders for the local National Women's Soccer League team, the NC Courage, Sami and Vince will be attending Saturday night's match vs. Angel City at 7:30p.
