Yup, that’s us. You may be wondering how we got into this situation. To answer that questions, we’re gonna have to go waaaaay back to 2017. Maya was attending Colorado State University, while Sam was wrapping up his degree in Political Science at the University of Northern Colorado.

Maya met Sam at a Party. When all of a sudden all hell broke loose. The cops arrived at the scene, ready to bust it up and hand out some MIP’s. Thankfully Sam lived right next door and Maya was able to seek refuge from the long arm of the law.

While we watched the party get busted up from the window, we got to talking. Maya, using some sort of dark arts, uncovered the fact that Sam’s fraternity was having a formal at the Denver Clocktower (which Sam had organized btw), and just happened to mention that she had never gotten invited to a formal before. Sam, being very smart, intelligent, charming, and not at all nervous, asked her to the formal for he still did not have a date. Maya accepted.

Our dashing duo went on their not at all last minute arrangement to the formal a week later. The chemistry was instant. Conversations were easy to have, each thoroughly enjoying each other’s company. On April 22nd 2017, we had our first date. From that moment on, the rest was history.

Four years later, April 22nd 2021, Samuel proposed to Maya, on the day of their anniversary with his mother’s pearl ring. The ring in question was hidden inside Maya’s favorite dessert, Baklava. Even though Maya was smart enough to see this coming a mile away, she was still surprised at the effort and thoughtfulness of his proposal, even though she almost cut through the ring with her knife.

After two years of engagement, we decided that now is the time to tie the final knot in our adventure together. We decided to get married in France, as Sam has a supportive and close family on his mom’s side who resides there, and Maya fell in love with the country when she went with Sam on a vacation there.
