Our Story

Sam and Haley first met at Emon and Alex’s wedding — Sam’s cousin and Haley’s best friend. Sam stood as a groomsman, Haley as a bridesmaid, and the two were paired together for the day. From the very beginning there was an instant connection. They spent the reception dancing, talking, and laughing, having such a great time that neither of them wanted the night to end.

With a little liquid courage, it was actually Haley who asked Sam for his number as she was leaving the reception. Sam didn’t waste any time making the first mooove and texted her the very next morning. And what was that first text? A picture of his family’s brand new baby cow with nothing but a heart emoji. That one picture would quietly kick off the next four and a half years.

To understand the significance of the cow, you have to rewind just a bit. Feeling that instant connection, Sam made sure to sit next to Haley in the limo on the way to the reception. As they pulled up, Haley exclaimed, “Oh my gosh, they have cows!” Sam casually replied, “I can show you them if you want.” Haley quickly realized, slightly embarrassed, that it was actually Sam’s parents' house. This became Sam’s first opening to spend more time together, and Haley, who has always loved cows (and was already interested in Sam), happily agreed. Unfortunately, with the wedding festivities in full swing they never made it out to see them before it got dark. That’s why early the next cold morning, Sam went out to the field to take that picture — sending it to Haley as the perfect excuse to keep the conversation going.

And keep it going they did. They talked all day, every day — sometimes staying up until four in the morning on the phone. It’s a good thing unlimited minutes exist, because they would have racked up quite the phone bill. Even after a full month of not seeing each other in person, the calls never stopped.

Soon after, Sam invited Haley to his New Year’s Eve party at his parents’ house. Haley was nervous, but knowing Alex would be there made it feel manageable. Then they got word that Emon had gotten sick and wouldn’t be able to attend. Haley nearly canceled, too nervous to go alone. But after Alex talked it through with Emon, she decided to go anyway. They deserve a special shout out because without their wedding—and their selfless decision to spend that New Year’s Eve apart, Sam and Haley wouldn’t be getting married today.

As you might have guessed, everything felt magical. After all those long phone calls, Sam and Haley finally spent real time together in person, and it only confirmed what they already knew. They have talked every single day since the moment they met — something not many couples can say. Sam often likes to say, “We walked down that aisle together and we never looked back.”

They are beyond excited to get married and begin this next chapter together. This is such a special time in their lives and they feel incredibly blessed to be surrounded by such loving friends and family. They are especially honored to have Emon and Alex standing beside them as Best Man and Matron of Honor — the two people who inadvertently made it all happen. God’s timing is truly something special, and Sam and Haley knew from the very first moment they saw each other.

They love their love story and cannot wait to celebrate it with all of you!
