Close friends of Morgan and Sam, Jarrett and Kara Woo, paired them together in their wedding party in 2022 and not-so-subtly hinted that they thought Morgan and Sam would make a good couple during a joint bachelor/bachelorette weekend away in June 2022. During the Woo wedding in July 2022, Sam and Morgan got to know each other more and really enjoyed spending time with each other. The two were uncertain what would come of it as Sam had just accepted a seat at a physician assistant program in Tennessee that was starting a few months later. The pair both got sick with COVID after the wedding which led to Sam reaching out to see how Morgan was doing and quickly led to them talking more frequently. After a few weeks of texting each other, Sam realized that he couldn’t imagine the thought of Morgan being “the one that got away” and he asked Morgan to go out on a date. Morgan felt this text was too good to be true and was eager to plan the date as soon as possible. After spending seven hours talking on their first date (literally sitting in the SAME seats at a restaurant for SEVEN hours), they both knew they wanted to keep seeing each other. During the months leading up to Sam’s program starting they drove between Maryland and Pennsylvania almost every weekend to see each other and talked on the phone every night. Throughout Sam’s time in Tennessee, nightly facetime calls would become the highlight of their days and quickly became a staple in their relationship. Before long, after talking and praying about it, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.

Eventually Morgan’s mom gave Sam her grandmother’s ring to propose and after a few months Sam found the right time to ask her to marry him. With the help of Jarrett, Kara, and Sam's brother Joseph they made Morgan think that they were going to spend the evening together getting in dinner in Kent, Ohio (where Sam asked Morgan to be his girlfriend two years ago) to celebrate the Woos moving into a new apartment and Jarrett graduating grad school. Before going to dinner they went on a walk and brought Morgan to the same river overlook where Sam asked her to be his girlfriend, only this time he asked her to marry him and she said yes.
