Our story began by chance on May 19, 2023. Much of our generation calls this chance “swiping right”. It is by far the best chance either one of us has taken & we’re blessed to share it with all of you!
If you guessed the S&N story begins on a dating app, then you’re correct. Together, we spent countless hours speaking on the phone, not knowing if the other person looked identical to their photos on their profile page. But that idea never came to light because of the immediate connection we experienced while talking to one another. We exchanged life stories, our favorite things on earth, & what each of us want out of this life with a true partner.
On June 3, 2023, we met for the first time with a planned date to Dahlonega, GA. And yes, for those wondering, we looked identical to our profile pictures. The first date started with lunch at a pizza joint in Dahlonega Square. We ordered a BBQ pizza and picked up the conversation from our last phone date. It’s as though we’ve known each other our entire lives because there was never a pause in our conversation. We proceeded to a winery in the North Georgia mountains, sipping on wine slushies & enjoying the view. We sat in Adirondack chairs all day, talking & laughing, not realizing that we were sitting there for six hours. We lost track of time but there was one thing Nick knew for certain from that first date…. He was going to ask Sandra to marry him one day.
June 17, 2023, we began officially dating…you know, making it “Facebook” official. And on September 7, 2023, sitting on the banks of Lake Lanier, Nick told Sandra “I love you” for the first time. Togo (Sandra’s Aussie) bared witness. From there, we no longer had to end phone calls with a simple “bye”.
Remember when Nick said he was going to ask Sandra to marry him? On September 12, 2024, we arrived in Charleston, SC for a weekend excursion. Little did Sandra know; Nick planned the trip with a proposal. On Friday, September 13, 2024, we trekked to Cyprus Gardens. For the romantics reading, this is the location of the iconic rowboat scene in The Notebook. We started the journey by rowing around the gardens, taking pictures, enjoying the views, & sweating with the manual labor it involved. During the row, Nick spotted a bridge overlooking the water & instantly knew he was going to propose there. Getting off the boat, we journeyed through the garden path & came across the spot. We stopped in the middle of the bridge & Nick began his proposal speech that he’s been reciting for weeks. Due to the nerves & somewhat rambling on, Nick forgot to get down on one knee. Sandra, teary-eyed & sarcastically, informed Nick that he must get down on one knee. We both laughed & Nick responded with a simple, dry humor reply of “I’m not there yet”. Nick proceeded to get down on one knee & asked Sandra to marry him! Without hesitation, Sandra said “YES!”. The chance taken by both of us transformed into a true love story.
We’re ecstatic to share our special day with you all on June 14, 2025, in Greenville, SC! We’re blessed with amazing friends & family, with whom we are fortunate to be celebrating this unity with. Let the good times roll!
