It All Started with Guacamole

The day was Saturday, August 24th, 2019, and we had both been invited to a mutual friend kid's birthday party.

His version:

My girls and I arrived at the party and as I was being introduced, I laid eyes upon the most attractive woman I’d ever met. I was speechless for most of the evening for I didn’t want her to think that I was really into her. Nonetheless, I couldn’t stop starring at her and at times, she’d feel my eyes upon her and smile at me. As we sat outside on the patio, still speechless, she mentioned her birthday was approaching and that the norm was for her family to gather at a restaurant and celebrate (how boring, I thought). I offered to BBQ for her, and she thought I was crazy, but she accepted. The following day, I kept pestering our mutual friend on whether they’d heard whether Sandra would be attending her own BBQ. The pressure was on because I had not purchased a single thing for her BBQ, and it was approximately 3:00 pm already. Finally, around 4:00 pm, I was told she would be honoring us with her presence, and I immediately sprang into action. I bought everything require for a traditional Texas BBQ and of course, a birthday cake. Neither my friend nor I had a clue what Sandra liked, so I purchased a cake that our mutual friend liked with the number 25. As the BBQ was in full motion and shortly after Sandra arrived, she insisted on making the guacamole and Pico de Gallo. I offered to assist and as we shared our culinary secrets, sparks were flying, and it seemed as if only her and I were at the BBQ. After we sang happy birthday and we were devouring the cake, she realized that she had not taken a picture of her cake. Well, prior to the BBQ commencing, I had snapped a pic or two of the cake and offered to forward her the picture. I handed her my phone and told her to just forward herself the picture. Our mutual friend looked over at me and stated, “the was good, I saw what you did” and that’s when it hit me. I now have her number, yay… As the BBQ conclude, I offered to take her to lunch since she would be having dinner with her family to celebrate her birthday at a restaurant. She accepted and asked me to pick her up around noon the next day.

The next day, I show up to her house at noon, as I’m extremely punctual, and rang the doorbell. She wasn’t quite ready, so she asked if I could wait in my truck. I made a phone call and then we were off to celebrate her birthday in the form of a lunch date. We both had an amazing time. We laughed, we blushed, we joked around and throughout the date, her beauty and demeanor was so captivating. Unbeknownst to me, I was falling in love. Upon dropping her off at her house, I immediately texted my youngest sister this, “call me crazy, but I think I’m going to marry this girl”.

Her version:

We met . I liked him, he liked me , he proposed, I said “yes” and now we’re ready to say “I do”.
